I love being a midwife and am passionate about empowering couples to have the best possible birth experience and enjoy getting to know their baby in the first few weeks of its life. I have two beautiful children myself and bring to the classes not only my experiences as a midwife but also as a mother.
I trained to be a midwife through Cambridge University and qualified in December 1997 with a BA (hons) Degree in Midwifery. Since then I have worked in two busy maternity units and have for the past seven years worked within the community setting. This has enabled me to gain widespread experience of antenatal, labour and postnatal care. It has also given me the opportunity of teaching antenatal classes.

Over the years I have continued to develop professionally and have undertaken study days and courses in areas of interest. These include water birth, active normal birth and aqua-natal. I have gained accreditation in UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative In Breast Feeding Management, La Leche Peer Counsellor Programme and ENB 997 Teaching and Assessing.
Teaching antenatal classes has always been a passion of mine. I understand that the prospect of becoming a parent can be a daunting. I believe all couples should feel confident about the arrival of their new baby, whether their experience is one of a normal or caesarean birth. It is my aim to ensure that you have all the knowledge you need to enable you to relax and enjoy the transition from pregnancy to parenthood and make welcoming your baby into the world the best possible experience.
